Preventive Care

It is a good idea to visit your dentist at least every six months and, of course, any time you have a problem with your teeth. Scheduled cleanings are a proactive approach to preventive oral care and highly recommended to be done twice per year. Dental professionals would agree that early detection is the key to keeping a mouth healthy. Above that, however, is preventative oral care which means taking positive steps toward a healthier mouth rather than waiting for problems to occur. Cavities and gum disease can be avoided through daily brushing, rinsing with mouthwash, and flossing. Then if or when a cavity occurs your dentist can provide treatment while putting into place a preventative plan which will prolong the healthiness of your mouth. The goal of preventative dentistry is to improve you long-term oral health, keeping a smile on your face and money in your pocket.

In addition to the physical aspects of cleanings dental professionals can assess problems which might be forming that you might not see and that may perhaps not be causing any discomfort. Early detection is always good and problems are more manageable in the early stages.
